Eco-cultural tides
Submerged narratives of the Oslo Fjord
The project "Eco-cultural tides (Submerged narratives of the Danube and Oslo Fjord)" aims to bring to the fore the similarities between the landscapes and cultural heritage of the Oslo Fjord and the Danube Cluster through contemporary art - artistic and curatorial research intersected with scientific practices, artistic productions and interdisciplinary collaboration. Focused on the integration of art and ecology with ecology and intangible cultural heritage, the project focuses on international collaboration to develop new forms of artistic expressions that reflect the complex relationships between nature and culture.
Building on the extensive research and artistic production carried out over the last 8 years by artists who have collaborated with scientists to explore the Oslo Fjord from an innovative and integrative perspective, 'Eco-cultural tides' draws on this knowledge capital to apply similar methods to the Danube and the need to reconsider the rich cultural capital that it has carried for thousands of years along its course. Through the exchange of experience and know-how between artists and contemporary art specialists from Norway and Romania, bilateral visits and the artistic residency, the project will facilitate the exploration and reinterpretation of ecological and cultural landscapes in contemporary art works, contributing to the development of artistic and social skills and to the promotion of the Danube as a cultural binding vessel.
